Settings
Adjusting how the board looks and how the app behaves.
Irakasi keeps two kinds of settings apart:
- UI settings: change how the current board looks and are saved with it, so each board can look different. The settings below the separator at the bottom of the menu are the exception. They apply to every board you open in this browser, and they sit here because they're important and this keeps them easy to find.
- App Settings: apply to every board you open in this browser.
UI settings
Open the UI settings in the Main panel. Most entries are switches, and some also have a settings button next to them that opens a panel with more options and a Reset Settings button.

- Grid: shows a grid behind the board. Its settings set the grid color, size, line opacity and width, and whether the grid draws over the shapes. You can also use an image as the grid and set its opacity.
- Axis: shows a reference axis at the board's origin. Its settings set the color, the size, and the Y axis direction. The direction sets how the editor shows and reads Y values, without moving any shape:
- Y down: values grow toward the bottom of the screen, as in SVG, the HTML canvas, and most design tools.
- Y up: values grow toward the top, as in mathematics, CAD, PDF, and 3D tools.
- Shape pivots: shows the selected shape's pivot, or the shared pivot of a multiple selection. The pivot is the point of the shape that its position refers to, so the X and Y you see in the Attributes panel are the pivot's coordinates, and it is also the default center of rotation.
- Board title: shows or hides the board name in the Board header.
- Vignette: darkens the edges of the board. Its settings set the opacity, where the darkening starts, how softly it falls off, and how rounded the corners are.
- Background: the color of the board behind your shapes. The board keeps one for light mode and one for dark mode, and the swatch edits the one for the current mode.
- Camera lenses: shows or hides camera lens effects while you edit. See Camera lenses below.
Below the separator, settings that apply to every board you open in this browser:
- Snap: makes shapes snap to each other while you move or resize them.
- Dark mode: switches the board and the interface between the light and dark color schemes, and sets the default colors for new shapes to suit it. Its settings hold Adapt current shapes to new color scheme: when it's on, switching also recolors some attributes of existing shapes so they read well on the new background. This option is saved with each board.
Camera lenses

A camera's lens is a stack of filters applied to what the camera shows, such as blurs, color grading, or distortions. Each filter works on the result of the one above it, and the lens shows in the editor, the Player, and exports. See Camera filters to add or configure them.
Camera lenses shows or hides all lens effects while you edit.
Lens effects can slow down editing. Each camera can hide its own lens, but turning this switch off makes sure no lens renders on the board. Every camera keeps its filters and settings. See Lens.
Only on the active camera
Open the settings button beside Camera lenses to choose which cameras can show their lenses:
- Off: all cameras can show their lenses.
- On:
- If an Active Camera animation block chooses a camera at the current timeline time, only that camera shows its lens.
- If the sequence has no Active Camera blocks and the board has just one camera, that camera is active even when it is not selected.
- Otherwise, if no camera is active, only selected cameras show their lenses.
- If none is active and none is selected, no lenses appear.
Player and exports
Both options are saved with the board and only affect the editor. The Player and exports always apply the cameras' lenses, so you can leave this switch off while you work.
App Settings
Open the App menu and choose App Settings.

- Language: the language of the interface.
- Accent color: the color of the interface accents and of the selection outline.
- Secondary selection color: the color of the outline on shapes that are hinted but not selected, such as the shape under the pointer, and of selection previews.
You keep one accent and one secondary selection color for light mode and another pair for dark mode, and the dialog edits the pair for the current mode.
- Show tooltips: shows or hides the tooltips that appear when you hover a button.
- Optimize raster: compresses still raster images such as photos when you import them. GIFs and animated images are left as they are.
- Optimize SVG: a light cleanup of SVG files when you import them, which keeps them easy to edit. See Media optimization.
- Max image dimension: the largest width or height an imported still image keeps. Bigger ones are scaled down to it, even with Optimize raster off. SVGs, GIFs, and animated images keep their size. See Media optimization.
- Max image editor dimension: the largest side the image editor works at, 2000 pixels by default. Bigger pictures are scaled down when the editor first opens them.
- Image editor fill resolution multiplier: how many pixels per board unit the fill of a vector shape gets when the image editor opens it, 2 by default, up to the maximum dimension.
- Image editor history size: how many undo steps the image editor keeps, 20 by default. When memory runs low it keeps fewer, so lower it on a device with little memory.
- Space Pilot: Connect opens the browser's device picker for a SpacePilot 3D mouse, or turns a device you already allowed back on. Disconnect turns its controls off. Once a device is connected, the row expands with its pan speed, zoom speed, and switches to invert the horizontal pan, the vertical pan, and the zoom. The row appears in browsers with WebHID, such as Chrome and Edge. See Navigation.
Reset Settings, at the bottom, returns every App Setting except the language to its default. A connected Space Pilot stays connected.
